Aquascape Hudson Water Fill Valve

Automatic Float Valve to Maintain Pond Water Level

The Aquascape Hudson Water Fill Valve is a float-controlled automatic fill valve that maintains a consistent water level in pond skimmers and pond basins. When evaporation or splash loss drops the water level, the float drops with it and opens the valve to admit fresh water from a garden hose or irrigation supply line. Once the target level is restored, the float rises and shuts the valve off.

Hands-Free Water Level Management

Ponds lose water to evaporation at rates that vary by temperature and humidity, and running a pond pump dry even briefly can damage or seize the impeller. A Hudson valve installed inside the skimmer maintains the water level automatically, keeping the pump primed without requiring daily top-up checks. It is especially valuable during warm summer months when evaporation rates are highest.

Specification Value
Type Mechanical float valve (no electricity required)
Connection Garden hose or 1/2 in threaded supply line
Mounting Inside pond skimmer or dedicated fill chamber
Function Automatic water top-up at set level
Safe For Freshwater pond systems, koi and goldfish ponds

How to Use

Mount the fill valve inside the pond skimmer at the desired water level. Connect a garden hose or dedicated supply line to the valve inlet. Adjust the float arm to set the shut-off point so the valve closes when the skimmer water level reaches the bottom of the weir opening. Test the valve by lowering the water slightly and confirming it opens and refills to the set level. Inspect the float and valve seat annually for mineral buildup or wear.

Ideal for koi ponds and water gardens in any Canadian climate where summer evaporation and splash loss require regular top-up, particularly for ponds run with high-flow waterfall pumps.
