Enzyme-Based Sludge Digester for Filters and Pond Bottoms

Aquascape Sludge and Filter Cleaner Professional Grade (1 gal / 3.78 L) is a concentrated enzymatic treatment that breaks down organic sludge accumulating on pond bottoms, in biological filter media, and in skimmer chambers. Organic sludge consumes dissolved oxygen as it decomposes, releases hydrogen sulphide gas, and provides a nutrient source that feeds algae blooms.

Enzymatic Breakdown Clears Sludge Without Disturbing Fish

Unlike physical sludge removal by vacuum or pump-out, enzymatic treatment breaks down accumulated organic matter in place without disturbing the pond's biological balance or stressing fish. The enzymes accelerate the natural decomposition cycle that occurs in a healthy biological filter, converting organic sludge into carbon dioxide and water. The professional-grade 1 gal (3.78 L) concentration is appropriate for high-volume use across multiple large ponds or for a complete season's treatment programme on a single large system.

Specification Value
Size 1 gal (3.78 L)
Grade Professional concentrate
Function Enzymatic digestion of organic sludge and filter buildup
Safe For Koi, goldfish, aquatic plants, beneficial bacteria colonies
Season Spring through fall; most effective above 10°C (50°F)

How to Use

Measure the dose per the product label based on pond or filter volume. For filter cleaning, apply directly to the filter media with the pump running so the treatment circulates through the media bed. For pond bottom sludge, distribute evenly across the water surface. Apply weekly during spring startup to clear winter sludge accumulation; reduce to bi-weekly during summer maintenance. Enzyme activity drops below 10°C (50°F), so discontinue treatment in fall before water temperature drops to that level.

Ideal for professional pond contractors treating multiple ponds during spring service calls, and for owners of heavily stocked koi ponds where organic loading builds sludge faster than a seasonal physical cleanout can address.
