Oil-Less Rocking Piston Compressor for Pond Aeration up to 1 Acre
The Matala MPC-60A is a 1/4 HP oil-less rocking piston air compressor built for continuous pond aeration. At 226 watts and with a maximum pressure of 17.34 PSI, it pushes air to diffusers in ponds up to 50 ft deep and can aerate surface areas up to 1 acre. Because it uses no oil, there is no risk of oil discharge into your water and no oil changes to schedule — the only maintenance it needs is an annual intake filter swap.
Why Rocking Piston
A rocking piston compressor uses an oscillating mechanism instead of a spinning piston, which cuts vibration, reduces noise, and eliminates the wear points that make conventional piston compressors fail early. Matala's design adds hard-coated aluminum cylinders and permanently lubricated bearings — two upgrades that extend service life well beyond what you'd expect from a pond compressor at this price. When the piston seal eventually wears, it's a field-replaceable part that costs a fraction of a new unit.

Installation
Mount on a stable surface using a vibration-damping mat or rubber feet. Run the compressor above the water line and route air tubing down to your diffusers using weighted tubing. Replace the intake air filter annually at spring startup. Run 24 hours a day during summer heat when dissolved oxygen demand is highest, or on a timer for smaller, lightly stocked systems.
Ideal for koi ponds, water gardens, and small decorative lakes up to 1 acre surface area, particularly where continuous aeration through warm Canadian summers is needed to maintain safe dissolved oxygen levels for fish.
