Edge Seal to Prevent Water Bypass Around Foam Media
The Oase FiltoClear 3400 / 5200 / 8200 (gen 3) foam plate lip seal creates a watertight barrier between the foam plate edge and the filter housing wall. Without this seal, pressurised water routes around the foam instead of through it, allowing particles and algae to return to the pond unfiltered.
Small Seal, Big Impact
Because FiltoClear filters operate under pump pressure, even a small gap at the foam plate edge lets a disproportionate volume of water bypass the media. Replacing the lip seal is quick and inexpensive — far better than tolerating green water all season. The OEM rubber resists compression set and maintains its seal through hundreds of backwash cycles.

Installation
Open the filter, remove the foam plate, and peel the old seal from the plate edge. Press the new seal into the groove, ensuring it sits evenly all the way around with no twists. Reinstall the foam plate and reassemble the filter. Pressurise and confirm no bypass at the edges.
