UV-Transmitting Quartz Sleeve for the 42 W FiltoClear
The Oase FiltoClear 5200 (gen 3) quartz glass sleeve protects the 42 W UV lamp from water contact while allowing ultraviolet light to pass through at full intensity. Over time, mineral deposits and biological film cloud the glass, reducing UV transmission and allowing algae to survive the clarifier stage.
Maximise UV Performance
Even a thin film on the quartz surface can cut UV transmission by 20–40 %, dramatically reducing the filter's ability to control green water. Replacing the sleeve alongside the UV bulb every season ensures the full rated UV dose reaches the water. Handle the new sleeve with gloves — fingerprint oils reduce light transmission.

Installation
Disconnect the filter from power and remove the UV lamp. Slide the old quartz sleeve out of the chamber, clean the sleeve seat of any mineral residue, and insert the new sleeve. Reinstall the UV lamp, seal the chamber, and restore power. Verify the UV glow is visible through the inspection window.
